DIRECT AID PROGRAM (DAP) PROJECTS FUNDED IN 2015-2016

 

Caritas Liban provides healthcare services to poor and underprivileged people in rural areas through their 9 Mobile Medical Units (MMU).  Australia’s DAP funded the purchase of medical equipment for the MMUs.  The project improves of healthcare services provided for poor and needy people.

 

Asile Maronite provides care for elderly people. Australia’s DAP funded the installation of a new hot water solar system for the organisation’s residence building.  The project will improve the quality of life of marginalised elderly people.

 

Lebanese Association for Rural Development provides development and economical support to rural communities through capacity building, improving basic services infrastructures and enhancing social cohesion. Australia’s DAP funded the renovation of Karam Medical Centre and equipped its laboratory. The project will improve the quality of health care services provided to poor and needy people of Akkar.

 

Together for Specialized Education provides care and education and for children with special needs.  Australia’s DAP funded the refurbishment of a newly-purchased building that will provide a home for children with special needs which will improve their quality of life and education.

 

Almidan runs an education centre “North Autism Centre” for children with autism.  Australia’s DAP funded the purchase of educational materials which will improve the quality of education for children with special needs.

 

Development for People and Nature Association works through a wide range of networks of civil society organizations to meet the needs of the local community on the basis of sustainable development.  Australia’s DAP financed the establishment of a fruit processing centre in the Jezzine Caza.  The project offers farmers of the region the opportunity to turn their unsold produce into dried fruits, juices, vinegar, and molasses which will increase their income and improve their quality of life.

 

Sama for Development provides capacity building and socio-economical support to vulnerable and underprivileged people and their communities. Australia’s DAP funded the refurbishment of two buildings in Ain El Helwe Palestinian Camp.  The project will improve the quality of life of the most marginalised people in Lebanon.

 

Brave Heart Fund is a charitable fundraising initiative established at the Children’s Heart Center, AUBMC, to provide financial assistance to underprivileged children suffering from Congenital Heart Disease. Australia’s DAP contributed to the treatment of four Syrian refugee children suffering from Congenital Heart Disease.  The project repaired the cardiac condition of these children and improved their quality of life.

 

Tripoli Disabled Sports Association provides advocacy, activism, conflict management, training and sports activities to people with physical disabilities. Australia’s DAP Funded the purchase of basketball wheelchairs for the physically disabled basketball team of Tripoli.  The project will promote sports for the disabled, empower disabled sportspersons and enhance their integration in the society.
