How to lodge an application in Lebanon

Online via ImmiAccount

Our preferred method of lodgement is online through ImmiAccount.  Lodging your application online via ImmiAccount is quick and easy and has many advantages to paper applications including:

  • allows you to lodge your application 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
  • start and save your application to continue working on later
  • attach additional documents even after your application is lodged so we can see them immediately (no need to courier or mail them to our office)
  • update your application details online
  • keep a copy of your online application
  • allows you to pay for your application online using a credit card.

The process is quick and easy by following these simple steps. 

  1. Collect your documents

Before starting your online application, you should collect, translate and certify your supporting documents as outlined in in the relevant checklists.

  1. Apply, upload your documents and pay for your application online using ImmiAccount

If you lodge your application online through ImmiAccount, you must upload all supporting documents into the system at the time of lodgement.  We can make a decision using the information you provide when you lodge your application.  It is in your interest to provide as much information as possible with your application.  

  1. Submit your biometrics (if required) at the Australian Visa Application Centre (AVAC)

For applicants residing in Lebanon, once you have submitted your online application we will send you by email an invitation to provide your biometrics at our Australian Visa Application Centre.  You must make an appointment at our Visa Application Centre to submit your biometrics. The AVAC will charge a Service Fee for collecting biometrics that must be paid in cash in Lebanese’s Pounds (LBP) – for more information on the visa application charges and service fees please click here

  1. Wait for decision – we will advise you of the decision via email. 

If you are requested to provide more supporting documentation for your application, you should submit (upload) supporting documents online via your ImmiAccount.  To attach documents to your visa application, please login to your immiAccount, find the application details page and click on the Attach Document button on the right hand side of the screen.  The mamimum size for each file you attach is 5MB

Once a decision is made on your application you will be notified immediately via email to the email address nominated in your application form.  If your visa is granted you will then be able to travel immediately.

Paper applications

The following applications require paper applications and cannot be lodged online. 

101 Child - Form 47CH and Form 40CH

102 Adoption - Form 47CH and Form 40CH

117 Orphan Relative Form 47CH and Form 40CH

445 Dependent Child (extended eligibility) – Form 918

117 Orphan Relative - Form 47CH and Form 40CH

602 Medical Treatment – Form 48ME

Where a paper application option is available for other subclasses, and you are unable to lodge online, you can lodge a paper application by printing and completing the relevant forms available on our website: https://www.homeaffairs.gov.au/.  You must also attached certified copies of relevant supporting documents as outlined in the relevant checklists.

  2. Collect your documents

Before starting your application, you should collect, translate, copy and certify your supporting documents as outlined in in the relevant checklists.

  1. Submit your paper application and provide your biometrics at the Australian Visa Application Centre (AVAC)

For residents of Lebanon, you will need to make an appointment at the Australian Visa Application Centre (AVAC) to submit your application and supporting documents, the AVAC will also collect your biometrics at the time of lodgement.  Note the AVAC will charge a service fee for these services.  For information on how to make an appointment at the AVAC s please click here

Note when submitting a paper application at the AVAC you will need to be prepared to pay:

  • the Visa Application Charge in cash in United States Dollars (USD), and
  • the AVAC Service Fee in cash in Lebanese’s Pounds (LBP)

  1. Wait for decision

We will advise you of the decision via email.  Please ensure your email address is clearly written in your application and that you authorise electronic communications. 

Applicants residing in Cyprus – Mail in your paper applications

Paper Applications

If you are a resident of Cyprus and you cannot apply online, you can complete a paper application form and send it by mail or courier to our office in Beirut. You should submit a certified copy of all required documents and a copy of your passport – do not send originals as they cannot be returned to you.

Please note, mail services can be unreliable therefore we suggest you consider engaging the services of a reputable international courier company.  You should ensure that any courier you use has an office in Beirut and will undertake action on your behalf in relation to customs clearance

Please ensure you include your email address and authorise electronic communications.  These applications will be processed at our office in Beirut and once a decision is made, the decision letter will be sent to you electronically.

Payment of the visa application charge (for mailed-in applications):

Clients in Cyprus can pay visa application charges by credit card (Mastercard, Visa, AMEX, Diners, JCB). Payments are processed in Australian Dollars by providing their credit card details on the application form.  For further information see: How to Pay

Applicants residing in Syria – must lodge at the Australian Embassy in Amman

If you are a resident of Syria, the Australian Embassy in Beirut cannot process your application. You can apply online where an online option exist, or you must post or courier your application to Amman, Jordan.
